Lightmake L4: Four Fully Independent Toolheads in a Kickstarter Printer

1 min read

The Lightmake L4 combines four independent toolheads with a linear-motor motion system to reduce multi-material waste and cycle time.

Four heads, genuinely independent

The Kickstarter-backed L4 uses four separate toolheads, each reportedly able to reach the full build area. The goal is multi-color, multi-material and parallel production.

Lightmake claims less than one gram of purge waste in one demonstration.

Linear motors

The campaign claims travel speeds up to 1,000 mm/s and ±1 µm motion precision. These should be treated as campaign claims until independently tested.

Risks

Calibration, collision avoidance, slicer integration and long-term reliability will be critical. Kickstarter pricing starts around $1,299.
