Introduction: Artec 3D has introduced Artec Twins, a software platform that combines point clouds, polygon meshes and Gaussian splatting for large-scale digitization and digital-twin workflows.

One Workspace for Different Types of 3D Data

Artec 3D has developed Artec Twins to work with large datasets generated by surveying, scanning and digital documentation. The platform combines point clouds, polygon meshes and Gaussian-splatting representations in one environment.

Billions of Measurement Points

According to the company, the software can display point clouds containing several billion measurement points at up to 200 frames per second. Artec also describes workflows involving captured areas exceeding 100 square kilometres. These are manufacturer performance claims and may depend on the hardware configuration and dataset.

Why It Matters to Additive Manufacturing

Large-scale 3D documentation can support component digitization, CAD comparison, wear analysis and repair planning. Such reverse-engineering workflows are particularly useful when current or accurate engineering drawings are unavailable.

Artec Twins is not a 3D printer. It targets the data-processing link between digital measurement and manufacturing preparation.
